5 CYBER CRIMES--Part 2 Crime 2

Second Crime---> Virus Dissemination 

So ever since I've crossed Elementary School I've always heard the term "VIRUS". Its pretty much in the syllabus of the schools. But this is for people who still don't know the meaning - Viruses are programs that attach themselves to or infect a system or files, and have a tendency to circulate to other computers on a network.

Well if you're asking for an example I'll give you my own example. In the school we have those projector based smart teaching system, on inserting a pendrive or a USB based gadget, we are used to getting a virus which calls itself "RECYCLER". Its a virus that actually infects your files and folders in your FAT ( File Allocation Table ) device and creates shortcuts for them. On clicking them you trigger the virus to get in your computer system and infect other files and as a matter of fact if you try and delete them your device won't show any of your data in it.

So getting back to the topic, Viruses disrupt the computer operation and affect the data stored ( as in the example above )- either by modifying it or by deleting it altogether.

There are  basic types of viruses and they can be classified as --->

1. Boot Sector Virus
2. File Infection Virus
3. Multipartite Virus
4. Network Virus
5. E-mail Virus
6. Macro Virus

Malware Detected

The term "virus" is also commonly, but erroneously, used to refer to other types of MALWARE (MALicious softWARE/MALevolent softWARE ), including but not limited to adware and spyware programs that do not have a reproductive ability

Worm is a type of malware, which unlike viruses don't need a host to cling on. They merely replicate themselves until they consume all the available memory in the system.
